Miss the old Twitter? Someone clearly does. The official blue bird logo from the company’s former headquarters in San Francisco fetched nearly $35,000 at auction.
RR Auction held a sale for the giant building sign, which was removed from Twitter’s HQ in September 2023 after Elon Musk rebranded the social media platform as X. According to RR Auction, the blue bird hung on the southeast side of Twitter’s HQ from 2012 to 2023.
The sign was first put up for sale when Musk ran a “Twitter rebranding auction” in August 2023. Buyers had a chance to obtain all kinds of memorabilia, including smaller bird logos and hashtag signs, in addition to office furniture.
As part of the auction, the company also offered two blue bird signs that had been hanging outside corporate headquarters, which has since been moved to Texas. It looks like one of the signs was then resold through RR Auction. A video shows that the auctioned sign is quite large, requiring a truck to properly haul it.
“This monumental sign, measuring an impressive 12 feet by 9 feet and weighing 560 pounds, is not merely office decor—it represents a significant piece of social media history,” the Boston-based auction house says.

Indeed, Musk has overhauled the old Twitter into X with numerous controversial changes, including stripping away the old content moderation systems. The result has been polarizing for social media users, causing some to flock to alternative platforms including Bluesky, Threads, and Mastodon.
We don’t know who bought the sign, but the winning $34,375 bid came under the $40,000+ estimate for the sale.
