Pixel 10 Pro Fold specs leak teases how Google will rival the Z Fold 7

The Google Pixel 10 series, including the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, is likely to arrive sometime in August and we now have an idea of how Google will rival Samsung’s latest folding phones.

According to a report from Android Headlines, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will offer a larger 6.4-inch cover display (up from 6.3-inches) with a peak brightness of 3000 nits.

The report hints that this extended display will come from a reduction of the bezel and a thinner hinge, so expect the internal display to stay roughly the same size as the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

The camera setup is said to be largely unchanged, with a 48-megapixel primary camera, a 10.5-megapixel ultrawide and a 10.8-megapixel telephoto with 5x optical zoom. There are also dual 10-megapixel selfie cameras.

The battery is now rated at 5015mAh, which is a 7% increase in capacity compared to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and a 9% increase over the Galaxy Z Fold 7. However, the report does imply that the phone will not use the same silicon-carbon battery tech used by rival devices like the Honor Magic V5.

The Tensor G5 processor, which would likely power the phone, could be paired with 16GB of RAM. Storage options include 256GB and 512GB, but there’s also a new 1TB option for those who need to store a lot of content offline.

A big IP improvement, but are the competition still ahead?

The biggest news of all though, is the IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. That’s a first for a foldable phone and puts it ahead of the IP48 ratings offered by rivals like the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Motorola Razr Ultra.

A bigger cover display, better battery life, and improved durability are all welcome upgrades, although the changes do seem modest – especially when compared to the competition.

Samsung has recently revealed the Galaxy Z Fold 7, and this is a big upgrade over the Z Fold 6. It’s way thinner, much lighter and with a far more capable camera system. There’s also the Magic V5 from Honor, which again is seriously light and thin and packs a huge battery and stacked camera system.

Of course, these are only early leaks regarding the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and they should be taken with a pinch of salt. But if these are all the changes Google is making, it does feel like this effort could fall behind some of the very best foldable phones.
