Google is seemingly planning to introduce a new “left behind” feature for the Pixel Watch range that could send an alert to your phone if the smartwatch is left unattended.

The in-development feature, which would finally offer Pixel Watch users the same courtesy as Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch users, was spotted within code strings by the snoops at Android Authority.

The strings discovered within the Pixel Watch system app is called “Notify when left behind.” Pretty self explanatory, huh?

The code features the messages:

  • Notify when left behind
  • Notify when phone is left behind
  • To use this feature, your watch must be on your wrist and Bluetooth must be on for both your phone and watch
  • To turn on, make sure your watch is unlocked. If that doesn’t work, try again later.

The site says the feature uses Bluetooth to power the feature, but also points out there’s no support for Ultra Wideband for that tracking to the inch. It also says Google may limit the feature to more recent models. The source speculates that we could see it roll out as soon as the next Feature Drop scheduled for March 2026. Furthermore, it’ll be a nice addition to the Wear OS Find Hub that recently became available for users.

It’s absolutely about time Google introduced this feature, but you’ll probably need to activate Android’s ‘familiar locations’ settings so it doesn’t get annoying whenever you leave the house without your watch.
