Fans of major PlayStation licenses will soon be able to decorate their homes with new collectibles. The Japanese manufacturer has just unveiled a partnership with Canadian toy manufacturer Spin Master to produce a range of luxury collector figurines featuring its major video game icons. The Shapes Collection” will be available on the official PlayStation Gear store this summer.
Pre-orders have already started for an Aloy replica (which will be shipped in August), while the rest of the range – including characters from God of War et Ghost of Tsushima – will launch its pre-orders on July 15th (for shipping in September). For now, these figurines are only available through the manufacturer’s storebut it’s not impossible that these will be invited onto the shelves of certain retailers. Like in Australia and the United States, where the range is also available via Amazon. If these collectible toys catch your eye, here’s everything you need to know before going through the pre-order box.
FIGMA with a PlayStation twist
Seasoned collectors will recognize in this “The Shape Collection” a desire to emulate the success of FIGMA figurines. The Japanese range produced by the Good Smile Company is renowned for the articulation of the characters, as well as the many accessories provided that allow for a wide variety of poses. PlayStation reproduces this formula to the letter by offering the following characteristics on its figurines:
- Aloy (€56.40): 42 points of articulation and 12 accessories (including several faces and hands)
- Varl (€33.60): 32 points of articulation, his fearsome axe and two sets of interchangeable hands
- Kratos (€33.60): 31 points of articulation, Leviathan Axe, Blades of Chaos and more
- Atreus (€33.60): 33 points of articulation, his bow, arrows, and interchangeable hands
- Jin Sakai (€33.60): 32 points of articulation, his katana, his tanto, his mempo mask and an additional sword.
These figurines will measure approximately 15cm in height and will present a particularly surprising level of finish for this Price range. Let’s hope that new characters with varied artistic directions will join the collection soon. Ratchet, Clank, Rivet, or even Astro Bot would be excellent candidates to diversify the selection currently dominated by realistic characters. The collection could also open up to other licenses from partner studios, enough to give birth to figurines of characters like Joel, Ellie, or Nathan Drake. Which heroes would you like to discover in this range?
