A still from the show featuring Rhea Seehorns and Karolina Wydras characters.

Rhea Seehorn and Karolina Wydra star in Pluribus.

Apple TV

Pluribus quietly took Apple TV by storm, and now it’s being labeled as the most-watched program on the platform. Step aside, Severance — there’s a new sci-fi hit in town.

The fact that Pluribus is so talked about isn’t really surprising when you consider that it’s from Vince Gilligan, the creator of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. This isn’t a series about blue meth, the Mexican cartel or a hat-wearing villain named Heisenberg. Pluribus is a different beast altogether.

Better Call Saul alum Rhea Seehorn leads the sci-fi drama, which earned a spot on our list of the best sci-fi shows on Apple TV. She plays a fantasy romance novelist named Carol who, as luck would have it, is one of a dozen survivors of a global pandemic that has made everyone annoyingly happy. What sort of alien invasion is this? Does she have what it takes to save the world, or will she succumb to the hive mind?

These are just two of the big questions the show has prompted.

Starring alongside Seehorn in this unique drama are Karolina Wydra, Carlos-Manuel Vesga, Miriam Shor, Peter Bergman and Samba Schutte.

Pluribus release schedule: When to watch new episodes

The ninth and final episode of Pluribus’s first season, titled La Chica o El Mundo, has a new premiere date. Instead of dropping on Friday, as previous episodes in the season have, the finale will be available on Apple TV on Wednesday, Dec. 24. Apple’s release formula is unique in that each episode actually hit the platform the night before the initial premiere dates at 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET. If this trend continues, you may be able to view the finale on the evening of Tuesday, Dec. 23.

Here is the complete episodic release schedule from Apple:

  • Episode 1: We Is Us premiered Nov. 7
  • Episode 2: Pirate Lady premiered Nov. 7
  • Episode 3: Grenade premiered Nov. 14
  • Episode 4: Please, Carol premiered Nov. 21

  • Episode 6: HDP premiered Dec. 5
  • Episode 7: The Gap premiered Dec. 12
  • Episode 8: Charm Offensive premiered Dec. 19
  • Episode 9: La Chica o El Mundo premieres Dec. 24

How to watch Pluribus on Apple TV

You can watch Pluribus with an Apple TV subscription. If you prefer a different route to access the show, you can get Apple TV as an add-on to a Prime Video membership. You can also consider the Apple TV and Peacock bundle if you’re interested in saving money.

If you want to watch Pluribus, you need a streaming subscription to Apple TV, which costs $13 a month. If you are a new subscriber, you can get a seven-day free trial. For those who purchase a new Apple device, three months of Apple TV are free as long as you redeem the offer within 90 days.

How to watch Pluribus from anywhere with a VPN

If you travel abroad and want to keep up with your favorite shows while away from home, using a VPN can enhance your privacy and security when streaming. It encrypts your traffic and prevents your internet service provider from throttling your speeds. It can also be helpful when connecting to public Wi-Fi networks while you travel by adding an extra layer of protection for your devices and logins.

VPNs are legal in many countries, including the US and Canada, and can be used for legitimate purposes such as improving online privacy and security. However, some streaming services may have policies restricting VPN use to access region-specific content. If you’re considering a VPN for streaming, check the platform’s terms of service to ensure compliance.

If you choose to use a VPN, follow the installation instructions from the provider to make sure that you’re connected securely and in compliance with applicable laws and service agreements. Some streaming platforms may block access when a VPN is detected, so verifying if your streaming subscription allows VPN use is crucial.
