Pop Mart today said it will develop a live-action/CGI film based on its LABUBU character in partnership with Sony Pictures. The project, centered on the company’s LABUBU IP, is in early development and will combine live-action footage with computer-generated imagery. Director Paul King, known for the Paddington films and Wonka, will direct and produce the project. Long Jiasheng, creator of LABUBU, will be involved in the film’s creative development. King will co-write the screenplay with Simon Farnaby. [TechNode Reporting]
