A LEAD specialist at Taco Bell has revealed that a wildly popular location shut down abruptly – but it’s not all bad news for fans.
The Taco Bell Cantina restaurant in California won’t be shut down for good.
The famed Taco Bell Cantina location in Pacifica, California has been temporarily closed for remodeling.
The restaurant will be closed for two weeks according to James Aman, senior Cantina specialist at Diversified Restaurant Group.
The franchisee owns around 300 Taco Bell locations across California, Nevada, Kansas, and Missouri.
“Can’t wait to see the new fresh look,” wrote Aman in a Facebook post on Monday morning, paired with an image of the “Closed For Remodel” sign plastered on the Pacifica restaurant.
Taco Bell fans shared their excitement for the remodel, leaving comments such as “Can’t wait to go back!!” and “I’m excited!!!”
Located right on Pacifica State Beach, the Taco Bell Cantina restaurant was named the “coolest” Taco Bell location in the world by Business Insider.
The fast food chain itself also views the Pacifica location highly, ranking it first on its list of most beautiful locations out of its over 7,000 restaurants worldwide.
What is a Taco Bell Cantina?
Unlike regular Taco Bell locations, Taco Bell Cantinas offer a unique menu, upscale restaurant design, and specialty alcoholic beverages.
They sell an assortment of beers, wines, sangria, and Twisted Freezes.
The concept for Taco Bell Cantina was first introduced in 2015 by Diversified Restaurant Group.
There are now around 50 locations in over a dozen states.
The Pacifica restaurant sits on the beach – a perfect spot for surfers and beachgoers to grab a quick bite.
The location even features a walk-up window, a surfboard parking lot, and an alcoholic version of Taco Bell’s slushies called Twisted Freezes.
TASTY INITIATIVES
In another initiative with Diversified Restaurant Group, Taco Bell is working on a new restaurant concept.
The chain partnered with the franchisee in San Diego to bring its first Live Mas Cafe to life early last month.
The beverage-focused Taco Bell offers customers several tasty options, such as Chillers, Aguas Refrescas, coffee, and more.
Although the Live Mas Cafe emphasizes drinks, traditional Taco Bell menu items are still available at the cafe.
The fast food chain hosted a grand opening for the Live Mas Cafe on December 9, offering diners complimentary beverages and free merch.
The new location will now remain open daily from 7 AM to 3 AM.
Taco Bell described the Live Mas Cafe as “a unique experience where fans can enjoy specialty drinks” in a news release.
“This cafe’ redefines the Taco Bell experience with an innovative beverage lineup and Bellristas, providing exceptional flavor and hospitality in a cozy, inviting atmosphere, all while maintaining the great value customers love,” shared the chain.
Some of the drinks have been offered through tests for years, per Nation’s Restaurant News.
The concept of the Live Mas Cafe has building slowly over recent years, and could be coming nationwide soon.
