The American cybersecurity company Proofpoint has closed the purchase of Hornetsecuritya German provider of AI-based security, data protection and compliance solutions for Microsoft 365, focused on MSPs and SMEs. He has paid 1.8 billion dollars for it.
The operation is another step in Proofpoint’s strategy to bring its security platform to companies of all sizes, through a specific approach for MSPs. The purchase of Hornetsecurity, thanks to its presence in Europe, as well as its partner network, which serves more than 125,000 clients through more than 12,000 MSPs and channel partners, allows Proofpoint to expand its capillarity and capabilities in the SME sector.
The operation contemplates that Hornetsecurity will now function as a business unit focused on providing services to MSPs and SMEs worldwide. Daniel Hofmann, until now CEO of the company, will be in charge of directing the Proofpoint business division that he will form from now on, and will also be Executive Vice President and General Director at Proofpoint.
Hornetsecurity’s management team will remain in place, performing their duties and focused on driving product innovation and its go-to-market strategy. Clients and partners of the until now independent company will have continuity in service and support.
