The Pure Smart TruColor is an A19 bulb with a traditional E26 screw-in base. It is 4.4 inches long and 2.4 inches wide and puts out 800 lumens, which is identical to the AiDot Linkind Matter Smart Light Bulb but not as bright as the 1,100-lumen Roku Smart Bulb SE Color ($9.88). It has a rated lifespan of 30,000 hours.

Like most RGB bulbs, the Pure Smart can display 16 million colors. It can also display whites with a tunable range of 1,500K (warm yellow) to 6,500K (cool blue). It has built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi (2.4GHz) radios and therefore does not require a separate hub for connectivity.

The bulb supports Amazon Alexa and Google’s voice assistant as well as the SmartThings platform, but it doesn’t work with Apple HomeKit or Matter. It also supports IFTTT applets that allow it to interact with heaps of third-party devices. You can control the bulb using the WiZ Connected mobile app (free for Android or iOS) or with the WiZ Pro Dashboard, a web-based application that is more suited to commercial applications. Both the mobile app and the web dashboard offer reports that tell you how much power the bulb is using. PureEdge Lighting also sells a series of wall switches, including the Pure Smart Wi-Fi 120V Room Controller, that work with the bulb.

To access the bulb’s settings, open the app and tap the room where it is installed. This opens a screen with quick control buttons. It offers two groups of lighting presets: Basic (Cool, Daylight, Warm, and Warmest) and Functional (Cozy, Focus, Night Light, Plant Growth, Relax, True Colors, and TV Time). There’s a brightness slider at the bottom of the screen and three buttons labeled Color, Dynamic, and Static. The Static button makes the bulb behave according to your current settings or presets, and the Dynamic button lets you apply special lighting effects such as Candlelight, Christmas, Fireplace, Halloween, Snowy Sky, and more. Tap the Color button to adjust the bulb’s hue using the color or white temperature palettes and a brightness slider.

Back at the bottom of the quick control screen are buttons labeled Automation, Discover, Library, and W. The Automation button lets you create on/off schedules, set Circadian Rhythms that change the bulb’s color temperature based on the time of day, and enable SpaceSense, which uses Wi-Fi motion sensing technology to turn lights on and off based on room occupancy. The SpaceSense feature analyzes changes in Wi-Fi signal strength and patterns as people move within a space to know whether the room is occupied or not.

The Library button opens a screen where you can create custom mood lighting scenes, enable Music Sync to have the bulb change colors to match the beat, and select a Static or Dynamic preset. The W button lets you turn all lights on or off with a single press, and the Discover button offers tips and access to the help center.

To see how much power the bulb is drawing, tap the three lines in the upper right corner of the Rooms screen, and then tap the Energy Consumption tab to view hourly, weekly, and monthly power usage statistics.
