Qobuz is getting into the festive spirit with a musical Advent calendar created in partnership with ECM Records.

From 1–24 December, the high-resolution streaming platform will release a new ECM track each day in 24-bit/192 kHz Hi-Res, all exclusive to Qobuz through the end of January 2026.

It’s a rare chance to explore ECM’s deep archive in pristine quality, with the selection pulling from the label’s defining 1970s era, an era that helped shape modern jazz and experimental music. Qobuz says the 24-track set highlights both essential recordings and lesser-known gems, offering a snapshot of the label’s evolution over the decades.

Among the headline releases is Bennie Maupin’s The Jewel in the Lotus, long considered one of the most important experimental jazz records of the era and described by Pitchfork as “an unknown modern classic from 1974.”

The lineup also includes tracks from Keith Jarrett, Jan Garbarek, Kenny Wheeler, Ralph Towner, Dave Holland, and the late Jack DeJohnette, alongside deeper cuts from artists such as Wadada Leo Smith, Nana Vasconcelos, and Barre Phillips.

Qobuz says the goal is to give listeners a closer look at ECM’s catalogue in a way that standard streaming quality can’t match. “The Hi-Res versions of these original recordings offer deeper insight into the artists’ work and a more immersive listening experience,” said Mareile Heineke, DACH Region Manager at Qobuz.

ECM added that bringing these 24 masters to Qobuz in 24-bit quality for the first time further cements the service as a leading platform for audiophiles seeking studio-grade sound.

As part of the rollout, Qobuz has launched a dedicated ECM Advent playlist that grows daily as each new track drops. Users can also follow the ECM label page on Qobuz to see each day’s release immediately and have new additions show up automatically in their Release Watch feed.

For fans of jazz, ambient, experimental music, or simply high-resolution audio, Qobuz’s Advent calendar might be one of the more thoughtful Christmas treats this year, and a great excuse to spend December discovering something new each day.
