Qualcomm on Wednesday launched the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, its most powerful Snapdragon chipset yet for mid-range smartphones, offering consumers enhanced performance and high-end features at a lower cost. Major Chinese outsourced manufacturers, and brands including Redmi, iQOO, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Xingji Meizu, are planning on adopting the Gen 4 chipset, according to Qualcomm, with the first devices to hit the market due in the coming months. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 is built on TSMC’s 4nm process and features a “1+7” core architecture. It includes one X4 prime core at 3.21 GHz, three A720 cores at 3.01 GHz, two A720 cores at 2.80 GHz, and two A720 cores at 2.02 GHz, integrated with the Adreno 825 GPU. [IThome, in Chinese]
