Red Deer Polytechnic has announced it will launch two new artificial intelligence programs starting in fall 2025.
Applications are now open for the new Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics Diploma, and the Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics Post-Baccalaureate Certificate programs, the post-secondary institution announced on Thursday, October 17.
“By advancing expertise in artificial intelligence, we are preparing students to lead in this rapidly evolving field and help shape the future of technology,” said Robbie J. Halonen, dean of the Donald School of Business, Science and Computing from RDP.
“These new programs will equip students with the necessary skills to meet the growing demand for expertise in this field and take advantage of the economic opportunities presented by artificial intelligence. Students will gain the skills to develop intelligent systems, make data-driven decisions and contribute to cutting-edge research and technological innovation in Alberta and beyond.”
The Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics Diploma program aims to provide students with diverse skills to apply AI technology in developing innovative solutions to modern industrial challenges. Students will have the opportunity to tailor their learning path to their career goals by specializing in one of three focus areas: machine learning, business intelligence or bioinformatics.
The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate program is designed for professionals with existing degrees to expand their knowledge specializing in machine learning and data analytics. Graduates will acquire the skills to perform data engineering and visualization, and to design artificial intelligence solutions that improve productivity in various industries.
Within both programs, a cooperative specialization offers students the opportunity to network and apply their knowledge in practice through structured work experience. Students must complete a paid work period. Through the education and training opportunities provided by these two programs, graduates will be equipped to take on a range of roles including data analyst, AI technologist, machine learning specialist and business intelligence analyst.
