New deliveries of Tesla’s Cybertruck are now on hold as trims are reportedly “flying off” the vehicle, Electrek reports.
According to conversations with auto dealers posted in an online community for Cybertruck owners, the issue is impacting the vehicle’s “cantrail trim.” This is located on the roof ledge of the vehicle, on the side just above the windshield.
Tesla has yet to officially confirm the existence of the issue. But several Tesla delivery specialists have reportedly told their clients that there is now a “containment hold” on deliveries of new Cybertrucks. This is where an automaker pauses new deliveries to save having to recall the vehicles after they are sold.
The Cybertruck has had issues with detaching trims before. In June 2024, the automaker recalled over 11,000 Cybertrucks as a result of trims detaching, this time in the vehicle’s trunk bed trim.
After launching in December 2023, Tesla has so far issued seven recalls for the futuristic truck. Most recently, Tesla issued a recall for approximately 694,304 vehicles, including the 2024 Cybertruck, due to an issue with the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) that could result in the TPMS warning light not remaining illuminated.
In 2024, the Cybertruck was recalled for everything from failing front windshield wipers and malfunctioning rearview camera displays to unintended acceleration from trapped pedals.

The latest trim issue comes as public opinion may be souring against Tesla, at least in many key demographics. A report by market research firm YouGov found that a majority of Americans now have a negative opinion of the company, in a report first shared with Sherwood News.
The report found that people in the U.S. are now 12.8% more likely to have a negative rather than a positive opinion of Tesla, with this rising to 35% among those who describe themselves as liberals. Meanwhile, Tesla also recorded a 9% dip in first-quarter sales for 2025, according to its latest annual report.
