A BARGAIN Ring doorbell accessory that helps you spot visitors in the dark is earning five-star reviews online.
It’s actually designed to do something else entirely – but Ring owners say the £13.97 add-on has a clever benefit, with one branding it “amazing”.

The accessory is the Gestech Ring Doorbell Rain Cover, which is meant to keep your video doorbell dry.
That’s handy as it can keep rain off the lens, making it easier to see at all times of day.
It’s meant to attach to a wide range of Ring doorbells, and doesn’t need drilling.
But Amazon shoppers are saying it’s also very good at reducing glare at the camera, making it way easier to see people at night (Gestech Ring Doorbell at Amazon for £13.97 – buy here).

One shopper with a Verified Purchase badge gave it a five-star rating and wrote: “This little gadget is just what I needed to prevent the wall light above it from shining on my doorbell.
“I can now get a very clear image at night. An added bonus for me is that it’s also great for keeping off the rain.”
Another verified shopper said: “I needed this to stop the outside light we’ve got fitted above the Ring, the glare was terrible.
“This stopped the glare at night and now we have a great view out the front of the house! Also stops rain drops too.”
And one added: “Was having issues with a motion-activated wall light reflecting on Ring 3 sensors, and delivering a blurry foggy effect on night recordings.
“This little gem has completely solved that issue. Thank you.”
The 3D-printed gadget is made out of plastic, and promises to shield the Ring doorbell from “rain, sun, snow and even the glare from home lights to streetlights”.
Bright lights can play havoc with the night vision on Ring video doorbells.
But this is an easy and cheap fix that should let you instantly upgrade your Ring doorbell’s view in the dark.
It currently holds a 4.4/5 review score based on more than 450 ratings – with 65% handing out five stars.

Just 5% of shoppers who left a review gave a single star, suggesting that the accessory is pretty popular with buyers.
It comes just days after The Sun revealed another Ring doorbell accessory for catching trespassers – and it’s only £11.
And The Sun also recently told how millions of Ring customers might be putting their video doorbells at the wrong height.
If you put it too high or low, you risk being bombarded with notifications and even missing key motion events.
