Seattle-based Rover Group has acquired Meowtel, a cat-focused pet-sitting marketplace, as the company expands deeper into specialized care for pet owners. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
- Founded in 2015, Meowtel has built a network of more than 4,000 cat sitters, serving over 125,000 cats in 8,000-plus cities across the U.S.
- Meowtel will continue to operate as an independent brand within Rover Group and will remain led by co-founders Sonya Petcavich (CEO) and Bruno Leveque (CTO).
- Meowtel has 11 employees and they will join Rover, which now has more than 560 employees across the U.S. and Europe. Rover, billed as the world’s largest pet care marketplace, was acquired by Blackstone two years ago in a $2.3 billion private equity deal.
