British audio brand Ruark has announced the resurrection of one of its classic products in the form of the R610 music console. First introduced in 1985, Ruark has updated the R610 and resurrected the brand’s Sabre-R loudspeaker name.
The R610 Music Console and Sabre-R bookshelf speakers bring back the concept of the music center, a hugely popular audio category that dominated much of the 1970s and 1980s.
Echoing Ruark’s award-winning 100 Series lineup, the R610 Music Console and Sabre-R bookshelf speakers have the same timeless styling that we recently saw with the launch of Cambridge Audio’s EVO One music center.
Both the R610 features hand-crafted cabinets and the trademark RotoDial controller alongside custom high-fidelity drive units. With many of Ruark’s customers delighting in the original Sabre loudspeakers, the new Sabre-Rs have been designed to last just as long and delight a whole new generation of music lovers.
The R610 Music Console features tactile soft-touch buttons, a precisely weighted control dial and a matching Bluetooth remote. Ruark claims that operating R610 is a completely intuitive process and the crisp color display confirms commands as well as showing album artwork or radio station IDs.
Powering the R610 is a modern switch mode power supply, which provides dedicated and optimized powerlines to the system’s motherboard and latest generation digital stereo amplifiers. Using audio-grade components, including Burr-Brown DACs and a nominal output of 75W per channel, R610 has a controlled and dynamic sound.
Thanks to its powerful CPU, the R610 can handle Hi-Res audio streams and offers support for internet radio, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Apple AirPlay and Google Cast. The R610 also makes it easy to rediscover physical music formats. A high-quality phono pre-amp makes it easy to connect a vinyl turntable, while CD owners will be able to integrate Ruark’s soon-to-be-launched CD Drive which will connect via the USB socket at the rear of R610.
Incidentally, the new Ruark CD Drive will also be compatible with the company’s R410 and R810 devices. Finally, the R610 also includes an HDMI ARC/eARC connection for hooking up a TV with volume and mute functions being controlled by the TV remote.
Customers can choose to purchase the R610 Music Console and the Sabre-R bookshelf speakers together as a complete system. Alternatively, both units can be bought individually for use with other suitable amplifiers or speakers.
Pricing & Availability: The Ruark R610 music console has a suggested retail price of $1,599 / £1,200 and the Sabre-R bookshelf speakers will retail at $899 / £699 per pair. Both products go on sale from today.
