FOSSiBOT is set to kick off an international crowdfunding campaign for the F116 PRO on March 10. The goal is to raise $1 million to support the marketing of this mini rugged smartphone, which doesn’t really look like the others.
A smartphone that fits in the hand and on a handlebar
First argument put forward: the format. With its 4.05-inch screen, the F116 PRO is smaller than the palm of your hand. An assumed choice, which contrasts with XXL smartphones, and which allows one-handed use even in full action. Despite this ultra-compact format, FOSSiBOT promises a device capable of performing on a daily basis, while withstanding outdoor outings and classic wear and tear without flinching.
It is especially in the photo and video side that the F116 PRO seeks to stand out. Inspired by sports cameras, the smartphone has a dual photo module focused on dynamic capture: ultra-wide field of vision of 152°, electronic stabilization, wide-angle shooting and panoramic capture. The idea is simple: draw quickly, film straight away, without getting lost in the settings, whether cycling, hiking or traveling.
The other advantage of the F116 PRO is its physical controls. A dedicated trigger button allows you to instantly launch an “action cam” video mode, with the correct settings already activated. No need to dig through the menus, one press is enough. Added to this are customizable keys, a trademark of FOSSiBOT rugged smartphones, to quickly access an application or a specific function.
The manufacturer even pushes the vice so far as to integrate a universal 1/4 inch screw thread, a standard well known to photographers and videographers, which will allow the smartphone to be attached to a whole range of existing supports: bicycle handlebars, chest harness, helmet, strap or tripod. Enough to transform the F116 PRO into an improvised on-board camera, without complicated proprietary accessories.
In terms of technology, FOSiBOT does not intend to hunt in high-end territory. The F116 PRO features a 5G compatible MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor, supported by 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Enough to ensure good fluidity, rapid video sharing and a relatively comfortable space for captured content. The device runs Android 16 and even includes dual lighting on the front and back to signal calls, messages and charging notifications.
Starting March 10, a $1 reservation program — refundable! — will allow curious people to secure free accessories if they then confirm their purchase. A 24-hour “early bird” offer will complete the system at the official launch, with additional cumulative bonuses.
