Samsung might just be secretly working on one of the wildest smartphones. This could be the much-awaited tri-fold phone that might shake up the market. It’s rumored to be called the Galaxy G Fold and could sport a massive 9.9-inch display when fully unfolded, making it one of the biggest phones ever. This could be a literal tablet killer if such a large display gets packed into a foldable phone.
Earlier this year, Samsung confirmed it’s working on a tri-fold foldable but hasn’t released any details until now. A tipster has recently revealed some early specs, which could be amazing.
The Galaxy G Fold will reportedly feature a 9.9-inch display when unfolded, just a little smaller than the Huawei Mate X’s 10.2-inch panel, which launched last year. But, unlike Huawei’s outward-folding approach, which leaves it vulnerable to scratches, Samsung’s version is expected to use a dual inner-folding mechanism, keeping the screens protected and adding more durability.
Another leak reveals that the tri-fold could support just 23W to 24W charging, which feels really underwhelming compared to the 100W and even 200W speeds we’re seeing these days. We can only hope this isn’t true, because powering a monster device like this could become tedious with such low charging speeds.
The Galaxy G Fold is tipped to launch in the same premium bracket as the Huawei’s Mate XT, which was launched at a whopping price of $2,800 (approximately Rs 2,38,000). So, mostly we can expect a similar pricing strategy from Samsung as well.
While rumors initially pointed to a late 2025 launch, recent reports suggest the G Fold might be arriving in early 2026. Most likely, it will first launch in South Korea, the USA, and China, and then gradually expand to other markets.
