While the spotlight of Samsung’s latest Galaxy event settled firmly on its new headset, the company also revealed more information about ambition to break into the smart glasses market.

Together with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, Samsung is developing new AI-powered smart glasses in conjunction with Google to rival the likes of Meta’s Ray-Bans.

“We’re also really excited about the AI glasses that we’re currently building together with Google,” Jay Kim, the head of customer experience at Samsung says. “We’re working with two of the most forward-thinking brands in eyewear, Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, to introduce new devices that fit into your lifestyle.”

The glasses are being pitched as part of Android’s XR ecosystem and will lean on Google’s AI smarts, likely a Gemini-powered display similar to Google’s prototype. Kim said Samsung’s goal is to deliver “style, comfort and practicality,” which sounds like a promise to make them into something you’ll actually want to wear.

Plus the collaborations suggest Samsung is attempting to play both sides of the market. Gentle Monster is geared more towards high-end fashion, while Warby Parker hits a more mainstream audience.

That perhaps gives us an indication of where Samsung could be taking its glasses, especially since Samsung has been extraordinarily light on the details.
