SAMSUNG has revealed two brand new budget phones days after Apple unleashed its own cheaper iPhone 16e.

The company’s latest additions have a bigger battery than any iPhone and packs some of the premium AI features seen in the recent Galaxy S25 series.

Samsung’s Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56 are successors to last year’s A35 and A55.

The Sun reviewed the A55 and praised it for the slick design, decent camera and killer battery.

This year’s replacements have some key design changes, particularly to the camera set up which is now housed in a thin vertical pill shape.

They’ve also slimmed down ever so slightly while the display is a tiny bit bigger.

On the A56 – the more expensive of the two – you can expect a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, with a 50-megapixel main camera and five megapixel macro camera.

The front-facing selfie camera has been boosted to 12-megapixels.

This can now do things like AI powered portraits and smart auto focus to analyse the scene, detecting focal subjects with precision, Samsung claims.

The A56 also gets some of the top features seen on some of Samsung’s more premium handsets too.

This includes Auto Trim, using AI to boost editing speeds to effortlessly extract highlights from multiple videos.

And Best Face, ensuring everyone in the photo has their best expression.

Introducing the Samsung Galaxy A55

In terms of battery, the previous 5,000mAh cells have been maintained and are capable of providing two days of use in one charge, according to Samsung.

However, the firm has made improvements to charging speeds so people can power up quicker.

Both will run on Samsung’s latest Android system, One UI 7 which includes the new Now Bar, with information such as live notifications and more along the bottom of your phone.

The pair come with 256GB of storage, costing £399 for the A36 and £499 for the A56.

Pre-orders start today ahead of general sale on March 19.
