TL;DR
- Samsung has made controllers and a carrying case for the Galaxy XR.
- The controllers are sold separately for $250.
- You’ll also need to pay an additional $250 just for the carrying case.
Galaxy XR, the device formerly known as Project Moohan, has finally launched. Samsung has built this headset to go toe-to-toe with any extended reality (XR) device, including the Apple Vision Pro. While its launch price isn’t nearly as hefty as the Vision Pro’s launch price was, it will still put a decent-sized dent into your wallet at $1,800. While that may cause some sticker shock, you’ll likely be more surprised to learn how much the Galaxy XR will cost with everything included.

Samsung has made controllers, as well as a carrying case, for the Galaxy XR. To quickly explain both accessories, the controllers resemble those for the Meta Quest 3 and will enable you to play games or navigate the UI. Meanwhile, the carrying case is designed to carry the headset, controllers, and external battery. If you want these items, they’ll be sold separately from the headset.

Samsung’s Galaxy XR controllers will set you back $250. Although that sounds a bit steep, it’s understandable considering that Apple plans on charging $250 for PSVR2 controllers for the Vision Pro. However, it’s worth noting that a pair of Meta Quest Touch controllers can be purchased for around $150.
What comes across as somewhat absurd is that the carrying case will also cost $250. So if you want the controllers and the case, you’ll need to pay $500. Remember that the headset itself costs $1,800, which adds up to $2,300 in total. That would bring it much closer to the $3,000 that the Vision Pro launched at.
Fortunately, the Galaxy XR does work with typical third-party controllers and third-party VR controllers. So you can save yourself some money if you already own a Bluetooth controller and a backpack.
