Samsung’s latest experiment in mobile form factors is finally here.

The Galaxy Z TriFold is a premium phone with two flaps that open up into an expansive, 10-inch screen. It basically turns into a Galaxy Tab 10 FE, which comes in at 10.9 inches, but resembles a Galaxy Z Fold 7 with an extra panel. Huawei offers something similar with its Mate XT, but that phone is not available in the US due to political concerns over Huawei’s Chinese ownership.

The Galaxy Z TriFold debuts in Korea on Dec. 12, followed by China, Taiwan, Singapore, and the UAE. It will hit the US in the first quarter of 2026. Samsung has not revealed the price yet.

The TriFold is Samsung’s “largest Galaxy smartphone screen ever, delivering an entirely new foldable form factor that merges the portability of a phone, the power of a tablet, and the flexibility of a creative workstation,” the company says.

Despite having three panels, Samsung promises a slim and portable profile. It measures 3.9mm when unfolded and 12.9mm folded. (The two-panel Z Fold 7 is 4.2 mm unfolded and 8.9mm folded.) For durability, a titanium hinge housing protects the folding mechanism from wear and tear. There’s an Advanced Armor Aluminum frame, a Corning Gorilla Glass 2 cover, and ceramic-glass fiber reinforced polymer on the back.

“Two differently sized hinges with a dual-rail structure work in harmony, creating a smoother, more stable fold despite varying weight and components across the device,” Samsung says. “The hinge structure also allows the screen panels to meet securely with a minimal gap, enabling the device to be thin and portable.”

Battery-wise, Samsung says it’s the biggest it’s ever offered in a folding form factor. A 5,600mAh, three-cell battery system is spread across the three panels of the Z TriFold, with 45-watt “super-fast charging,” powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy.

“Samsung’s relentless pursuit of new possibilities continues to shape the future of mobile experiences,” says TM Roh, CEO, President, and Head of Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics. “Through years of innovation in foldable form factors, Galaxy Z TriFold solves one of the mobile industry’s longest-standing challenges—delivering the perfect balance between portability, premium performance, and productivity all in one device.”

All that screen space gives you more room to get things done. You can pull up multiple apps at once, resize apps into a multi-window view, and enhance the size of a document to improve readability. A 200MP camera system can capture footage that you can view and edit with Galaxy AI on the big screen, including the ability to compare the before and after side-by-side.

“For example, an architect drafting design plans for a new home can use the large screen to operate three applications at the same time, to review blueprints, write a proposal, and calculate measurements in a single, multi-window workspace,” Samsung says. “If a call comes in, they can answer without disrupting their layout or losing their momentum.”

You can even turn it into a makeshift monitor. Adding a secondary screen in Extended Mode enables a dual-screen experience when paired with an external monitor. You can drag and drop apps across screens, and connect a mouse and keyboard via Bluetooth. This could be especially helpful when on-the-go, as your cell phone can now become part of your computer.

The larger screen also makes it easier to access Google Gemini Live, a multimodal AI that aims to be an always-available assistant. You can speak to it and get information as you’re multitasking. When screen or camera sharing with Gemini Live, it can comment on what you’re seeing. The phone comes with six months of Google AI Pro, which includes access to Veo 3 video generation and 2TB of secure cloud storage.

The device will be available in black with 16GB of memory and either 512GB or 1TB of internal storage. It’s rated IP48 for water-resistance, and supports 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth v5.4. There’s a capacitive fingerprint sensor on the side.

Finally, it’ll make sure you fold it the right way when you’re done. If you misplace a panel, you’ll get “a series of on-screen alerts and vibrations” to make sure it’s correct.
