Samsung has announced the One UI 8.5 beta for Galaxy smartphones is now open and has given everyone a preview of the new features coming soon.
The beta, which will first be available to Galaxy S25 owners in the US and the UK (among other markets), can be downloaded via the Samsung Members app.
It arrives promising “next level ease of use” that are mainly focused around content creation. First of all, the company has revealed an updated AI Photo Assist feature that’ll enable users to continually use Gen AI tools rather than having to save after each edit. The company is also boosting Quick Share to proactively recognise people in a photo that you might like to share it with.
Furthermore, Samsung is improving cross-device connectivity through it’s Audio Broadcast feature. In a blog post Samsung “enables effortless communication with LE Audio-supported devices nearby using Auracast. In addition to audio from media sources, users can now broadcast their voice using their Galaxy phone’s built-in microphone — ideal for group situations like tours or events.”
Moving forward, Samsung is improving its Storage Share feature, by showing the files users have stored on Galaxy devices in the My Files app for easy access over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It also counts for any files stored on a television.
Moving on, Samsung is also boosting its Theft Protection feature, which works to keep hardware and software secure in the event the handset is pinched.
Samsung adds: “Failed Authentication Lock automatically locks the screen if there are too many failed attempts to verify identity by fingerprint, PIN or password. Identity check also safeguards more settings than before, adding an extra layer of protection.”
There’ll be a few weeks in beta before the software becomes available to Galaxy S25 devices and those farther down the trough.
