Watching all of it would take you more than a week even if you binged non-stop, so start your weekend with my three top movies and shows for the next seven days. Mid-January brings us a crime thriller with Boston boys Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, a rip-roaring pirate adventure, and a behind-the-scenes look at the WWE.
This Week on Netflix: PCMag’s Picks
The Rip (Jan. 16)
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon co-star alongside newly minted Golden Globe winner Teyana Taylor in this new flick from Joe Carnahan. They play Miami cops who find millions of dollars in cash during a raid on a stash house and have to count it all before leaving the scene to make sure it’s not misplaced. But when word gets out that the money is there, suddenly everybody’s a suspect and time starts to run short. Looks like a lot of fun.
Sandokan: Season 1 (Jan. 19)
If you’re thirsty for big-budget historical action, Sandokan might be your new binge watch. This remake of a mid-70s Italian TV show takes us to the South China Sea, where the titular pirate and his crew battle the British and get swept up in world-shaking events. When Sandokan meets the beautiful daughter of a British consul, it embroils him in a deadly love triangle with a charming pirate hunter as well.

Even if you’re not into pro wrestling, there’s something totally fascinating about WWE Unreal, the federation’s unique behind-the-scenes show that reveals how the matches are made. Big egos and bigger ratings collide as the company’s creative team wrestles with unexpected fan reactions, surprise injuries, and the retirement of John Cena from the ring forever.
