Senior managers are leading the charge when it comes to adopting and integrating AI in the UK, new research has revealed.
The majority (57%) of senior managers are already actively using AI in their work, compared with 45% of employees, according to a survey of more than 3,000 workers across different levels of seniority conducted by YouGov and Indeed.
According to the findings, senior managers are also more frequent repeat AI users, with 77% using the technology at least once a week, compared with 63% of employees.
The survey also noted that digital literacy, including in the use of AI tools, is seen as the most important future skill by all categories of workers.
“As businesses move quickly to adopt AI and boost productivity, our findings are a timely reminder: progress should be matched by meaningful investment in trust, transparency, and employee wellbeing,” said Matt Burney, senior strategic advisor at Indeed.
“At a time when trust is faltering and wellbeing concerns are rising, it’s essential that AI adoption doesn’t widen the gap between leaders and teams.
“With more UK businesses integrating AI into hiring and broader workflows, leaders have a responsibility to build people-first strategies that prioritise clear communication and long-term support.
“The goal isn’t just efficiency, it’s empowerment.”
