Through guiding several organizations on their AI journeys, SHI International Corp. has identified a clear and consistent theme: A people-first strategy remains crucial for success — alongside strong, purposive partnerships.

SHI’s Tyler Webb discusses the company’s AI ideation style with theCUBE.

As SHI continues to expand its AI initiatives, the company remains focused on measurable outcomes, human-centered design and scalable success. The end goal? Help companies achieve their goals faster, smarter and more sustainably through AI, according to Tyler Webb (pictured), director of AI sales at SHI.

“It comes down to our partnerships,” he said. “We have amazing partnerships with players like HPE that we are developing some cutting-edge solutions … and of course our partnership with Nvidia and the resources that we’ve brought to the table there. In addition, it’s our people, our expertise, and I mentioned earlier, over 120 AI and machine learning experts at our disposal, can help our customers really accelerate that time to value.”

Webb spoke with theCUBE’s Paul Gillin at the SHI Fall Summit, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, News Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed outcomes, sustainability and a people-first strategy as the cornerstones of SHI’s AI actionalization approach. (* Disclosure below.)

SHI’s people-first method in detail

Webb leads a team of eight that supports all SHI business units and acts as “concierges” for customers exploring AI. Their goal is to gain a deep understanding of each customer’s business problems and help translate them into meaningful AI use cases. SHI’s approach spans 17,000 customers, offering access to over 120 AI and machine learning experts, enterprise architects and an AI and cyber lab that allows customers to prototype and test real-world solutions rapidly, he explained.

“When it comes to AI, it’s everywhere, from customers just trying to wrap their heads around it and get started, to the customers who are more advanced in their journeys,” Webb said. “They’re really trying to accelerate innovation and create that next competitive differentiator for their business.”

To help customers navigate AI adoption, SHI developed a structured framework called “Imagine, Experiment, Adopt.” First, it identifies the business challenges and envisions how AI can create efficiencies or new opportunities. Then comes the prototyping of AI solutions with full-stack development, testing real-world impact and measurable ROI. Finally, successful prototypes are scaled across the organization with a focus on change management, security and compliance, Webb emphasized.
