A RECALL has been announced for a popular children’s sunscreen this month.

Shoppers will see retailers like Walmart, Costco, and others take the item off shelves for a temporary period.

Babyganics confirmed the voluntary recall of its Totally Tropical SPF 50+ scented mineral sunscreen in rollerball and spray versions on Friday, per a news release.

The brand emphasized that the removal was for those two products specifically, no others in its line of Babyganics products were affected by the action.

A decision to voluntarily recall the Totally Tropical scented mineral spray and roller ball sunscreens came after quality testing “found results that were not expected,” according to the release.

“While not a risk to health or safety, these results are unacceptable from a quality standpoint; therefore, the company is asking consumers to return or discard the affected SKUs.”

Babyganics noted that it “takes pride” in its consumer safety standard commitments and, therefore, had to issue an immediate recall.

Refunds will also be awarded to Americans who bought the affected sunscreens.

MORE DETAILS

A website has been set up by the company with more information, including the exact Universal Product Codes (UPCs) for the recalled items.

In the frequently asked questions section, Babyganics revealed that the exact issue with the sunscreens involved a certain “unintended impurity.”

“Please rest assured, we have taken all the necessary steps to ensure this does not happen again,” the brand emphasized.

“The impurity is a solvent that should not be present in these products.”

While customers at Walmart, Costco, and other retailers can rest assured that even if they purchased affected products, it was still safe, the same can’t be said about another recent recall.

FOOD FRIGHT

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) placed its highest-risk warning on Marketside Broccoli Florets sold at Walmart last month.

Customers were urged to completely avoid the product and return or discard any purchases immediately, as some bags of the frozen vegetable were found contaminated with listeria after tests from the Texas Department of Health.

Listeria is bacteria that can contaminate many foods and cause Listeriosis, with mild symptoms of infection including fever, chills, and headaches.

There can be severe and even life-threatening cases, however, which can cause stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and even convulsions, per the FDA.

Those with weak immune systems or who are infants or over 65 are particularly vulnerable.

While no cases of listeria have been reported so far linked to the Marketside Broccoli Florets from Braga Fresh, Walmart stores in several states sold the product.

They include Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

Jacquelyn Cook, Walmart’s director of executive communications, also told The U.S. Sun that “the product is no longer in stores.”

Shoppers were also warned earlier this month over a popular tailgating item potentially causing “amputations.”

A potentially fatal design on a lunch product was also noted by Walmart, Costco, and other retailers.
