Unified identity security company Silverfort Inc. today announced the launch of Privileged Access Security, a new way to secure privileged accounts faster and easier than previous solutions.
The new PAS service discovers, classifies and protects privileged accounts from end-to-end by operating from within the identity and access management infrastructure. The result is said by Silverfort to deliver rapid time-to-value and far broader protection that will not leave any privileged account behind.
Silverfort PAS seeks to address security issues such as eight out of ten breaches leveraging compromised identities and credentials, taking advantage of silos and blind spots that enterprise identity infrastructure suffers from. Privileged accounts, which have broad access permissions to sensitive information, can cause massive damage and are the most targeted by attackers, yet many go unaccounted for and are not adequately secured.
The company argues that though existing PAM solutions offer valuable security controls, they struggle to defend against today’s threats effectively because they require lengthy and complex deployments, rely on manual discovery and onboarding, and allow administrators and attackers to bypass them easily.
The new Silverfort PAS service can operate as a layer on top of any existing PAM solution or as an alternative in places where PAM is too complex or expensive to implement. Differing from traditional PAM deployments, Silverfort’s PAS can be implemented and activated within days to allow companies to effectively address security and compliance gaps while, at the same time, saving time and costs.
“Securing privileged access has been one of the biggest challenges of the cybersecurity industry for decades and solving it effectively in today’s hybrid and complex enterprise environments pushed us to innovate and break free from the old limitations,” said co-founder and Chief Executive Hed Kovetz. “Our new PAS offering can operate on top of any existing PAM solution or as an alternative in places where PAM isn’t implemented.”
Key features of Silverfort’s PAS include automating the discovery and classification of privileged accounts, continuously identifying accounts, privilege tiers and misuse, which traditional solutions often overlook. The service enforces a zero-trust approach by mapping account usage and blocking unauthorized access to prevent lateral movement and ransomware propagation.
The solution offers frictionless just-in-time access with a single click, eliminating onboarding efforts and enabling zero standing privilege at large scale. Its rapid deployment functionality leverages existing identity infrastructure, addressing security gaps and compliance needs within days while reducing costs and cyber insurance premiums.
Silverfort was previously in the news in September when it announced an identity-first incident response solution that aims to accelerate attack remediation time by complementing existing incident response tools and optimizing IR processes.
