But the biggest arrival is that of Disney Jr, which returns five years after going off air.

The channel will be back on all Sky platforms from Thursday – though the exact channel number is yet to be confirmed.

Disney Jr – along with the main Disney Channel – were axed back in 2020 as Disney moved everything to its Disney+ streaming service.

The return of Disney Jr will come with the existing £8 a month Sky Kids package, which features 10 live channels.

  • Sofia the First
  • Marvel’s Iron Man and His Awesome Friends
  • Doc McStuffins
  • Pupstruction

  • Disney Jr. Ariel: The Little Mermaid (coming soon to on demand)

But that isn’t the only shake-up coming to boxes this week.

Christmas lovers can also look forward to another festive favourite for seasonal music.

NOW XMAS returns to screens from tomorrow (November 11) on channel number 354 for Sky Q.

It will replace Clubland TV for the Christmas period and will switch back in the New Year.

NOW XMAS will also be available to Sky Glass and Stream viewers at number 354 too.

Elsewhere this week, Sky Cinema subscribers need to be aware of one temporary change.

On Friday, Sky Cinema Blockbusters will disappear and become Sky Cinema Epic Worlds.

This can be found on channel number 303 across all Sky devices.

The move comes just days after Sky Cinema Action and Sky Cinema Comedy returned, having spent a short period as Sky Cinema Transformers and Sky Cinema Pitch Perfect respectively.

WHY IS DISNEY JR COMING BACK?

By Jamie Harris, Assistant Technology and Science Editor at The Sun

A number of TV channels have been closing in face of tough competition from streaming.

So it’s quite surprising to hear of a reversal, with Disney Jr returning to linear TV five years after it was axed.

But it turns out putting all your eggs into the streaming basket isn’t necessarily the best way to do business.

Interestingly, this return from the dead only includes Disney Jr, and not the main Disney Channel.

Disney Jr taps into the 2-6 age range.

Younger children tend to start out with traditional linear TV put on for them by parents before moving onto streaming as they grow up and can choose for themselves, so this move makes sense.

And with continued channel closures and the arrival of HBO Max next year that will shake-up Sky’s premium offering, it’s more important than ever for Sky to provide as much reason as possible for viewers to stick with them.
