There’s only one clue which reveals the event will be TV related, not about its broadband or mobile business.

“Big things are coming to Sky TV – join us to find out more,” it reads.

But if you’re hoping for news on the future of much-loved products like Sky Q you might be disappointed.

Experts have said there’s “unlikely” to be any hardware annoucements.

Instead it’s predicted that there will be much-anticipated talk about content, with the launch of HBO Max in the UK and Ireland imminent.

The US streaming service has been prevented from landing across the pond due to an existing exclusivity deal with Sky tying hit shows like The White Lotus and House of the Dragon.

But that contract is coming to an end, meaning HBO Max owner Warner Bros Discovery can finally launch here.

While HBO series already shown on Sky Atlantic will continue to appear on the channel, new HBO shows will go on HBO Max instead.

Sky customers will be offered access to HBO Max at no extra cost – however, this will be ad-supported.

“Most likely, this will relate to content, forthcoming programming, packaging and tweaks to the user interface,” Paolo Pescatore, a tech industry expert with PP Foresight, told The Sun.

“This is all about Sky setting the tone for the year ahead and seeking to establish its presence in people’s homes, especially in the living room.

“For Sky, this will undoubtedly be one of its most challenging years.

“Content will no longer be one of its key differentiators in the market.

“It will finally lose exclusivity over HBO programming as Warner Bros Discovery can offer the service as a standalone option (HBO) for the first time.

“This was the last piece, along with Sky Atlantic, given that sports is available on a wholesale basis or through a NOW pass.”

HBO Max launched in Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Greece, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein and Israel today.

It’s set to land in the UK and Ireland in March.

The Sun will be attending Sky’s event in February and will bring you all the big announcements as they happen.
