There are loads of Sky TV perks that can save you some cash – if you know where to find them.

The Sun has picked out five easy tricks to help you get your money‘s worth.
VIP scheme free movies
There’s a clever scheme that gives you freebies – and they get better the longer you’ve spent with Sky.
It’s called Sky VIP, and you’re eligible if you’ve had Sky TV, Sky Mobile, Sky Talk, and/or Sky Broadband.
Here’s how the tiers lay out:
- Silver: 0 – 3 years
- Gold: 3 – 8 years
- Platinum: 8 – 15 years
- Diamond: 15+ years
As soon as you join Sky VIP, you’ll be eligible to claim a welcome gift.
Just go to Sky, sign in, click your name in the top-right corner, and then hit Sky VIP & Rewards.
You can also do it via your Sky box by going to Settings > My Account > Sky VIP.
This will get you a free movie from the Sky Cinema store that you can redeem to watch on your TV.
VIP scheme event ticket lottery
Sky VIP also has another perk: access to cinema screenings, sporting events, and other fun experiences.
Just go into the Sky VIP section of the My Sky app, then choose Sky VIP.
You’ll then be able to enter with a chance to win tickets for various events.
Sky recently revealed how a VIP member had won tickets to see Disney On Ice.
But there are lots of different types of tickets on offer.

And you can also send friends or family to these Sky VIP events too.
The bad news is that there’s no guarantee you’ll win – but you’re definitely in with a chance.
Bundled Netflix
Sky has lots of TV packages (and even broadband packages) that come with free Netflix.
You’ll get Netflix’s Standard with Ads plan if you have a Sky Essential TV package (£15 a month) or the Sky Ultimate TV plan (£22 a month).

And it’s also included as part of Sky Glass or Sky Stream plans.
Normally Netflix Standard with Ads costs £4.99, which is £59.88 over the course of a year.
You’ll get almost all of Netflix’s TV and movie library, plus unlimited access to mobile games.
The downside is that you’ll have to sit through some ads on this plan.

Got Sky Q? There are some handy tricks worth knowing about…
Find your lost TV remote
If you can’t find your Sky Q remote, don’t panic.
Just press the Sky Q logo on the front of your TV box.
It’s actually a button that will trigger your TV remote’s built-in ringer.
You’ll get 30 seconds of beeping to find where you’ve dropped it. Hint: it’s probably under the sofa cushion.
Search movies by quotes
You might have already used voice search for controlling TV playback – but your remote’s microphone has another clever trick.
It turns out that you can say movie quotes into the remote and Sky will find the film for you.
This is handy if you can’t remember the name of a top movie or show.

Save lost recordings
Have you ever deleted something you’d recorded on Sky, only to regret it later?
Or maybe someone in your family removed something without telling you – sparking a massive row.
Don’t panic: you can get them back.
Just go to Recordings > Manage > Deleted and then simply hit Undelete on the item that you want to resurrect.
If you do that, it’ll return to your Recordings section as good as new.

But you can agree to pay the difference and upgrade to a pricier ad-free Netflix plan, if you prefer.
Bundled Discovery+
Like Netflix, Sky also offers free memberships to Discovery+.
It’s part of the Sky Essential TV and Sky Ultimate TV packages.
The app features tens of thousands of episodes of telly, and describes itself as “the home of real-life entertainment”.

It serves up content across categories like food, nature, animals, science, technology, and more.
The Sky deal gets you access to the cheaper Discovery+ Basic plan.
Usually, that would mean paying a £3.99 monthly bill – or £47.88 over the course of a year. So it’s a decent saving.
Power-saving mode
If you want to absolutely maximise your savings, you could try to trim those electricity bills with some smart Sky settings.

For the Sky Q box, you’ve got an Eco mode.
“This is the recommended setting as the box consumes less energy by going into low power mode between 2.30am and 5:45am,” Sky explains.
“It won’t go into this mode until any scheduled recordings are complete.”
You can find this in Settings > Setup > Preferences > Standby Mode.
