According to founder and general manager Peter Desmet, the company’s bankruptcy is the result of persistently disappointing market conditions.
Market downturn and price drops
‘We hope to have made an important contribution to sustainability and the development of the solar market in particular over the past 16 years,’ says Desmet. “We deeply regret this situation and will therefore continue to investigate how we can continue our story.”
According to Desmet, the cause lies in the extraordinary decline in the market in 4 of the 5 countries where the Solar Clarity group is active and the associated price drops for solar panels. Partly due to the political unrest surrounding sustainability and negative media reporting, it has not been possible to stabilize Solarclarity’s financial position, according to the company. As a result, it is no longer possible to meet current obligations.
Restart
The curator will investigate the options for continuing the activities in the coming period. It is being investigated whether there are possibilities for a restart, with which the company could reposition itself.
“We hope that the curator can realize a restart in the short term that will preserve employment,” Desmet concludes.
