Sony is trying its best to take the world by storm with its new launches and expansion in the console domains. The latest report related to the brand suggests that it is working on a gaming handheld to compete with the Nintendo Switch. The device will be pretty different from the PlayStation Portal which only works as a remote player for the console. For example, you can only steam games and media from a connected PS5 or WiFi on the PlayStation Portal.

Bloomberg published the first report related to the same on Monday that a gaming handheld is in the early stages as it will be able to run all the PS5 titles. And this is more than enough fuel for gamers all around the world to speculate the launch of a PS5 gaming handheld pretty soon.
Now, Sony is not the only company that is eyeing claiming the gaming handheld market as Microsoft is in the race as well. Microsoft gaming chief Phil Spencer suggested in an interview with Bloomberg that the company will do something in the gaming handheld space in the near future.

The competition between the two is fierce and we have been seeing that for a long time now with the Xbox and PlayStation consoles in play. And if Sony goes all guns blazing and drops a gaming handheld then we already know that Microsoft will join the party soon.
However, coming back to reality, any of the mentioned brands are not going to drop a gaming handheld in the next couple of years most probably. The best possible assumption for the same would be at least three years down the line. On a concluding note, it can be said that waiting is the best option as of now until Sony confirms something officially.
