Soopra AI, a company that provides on-demand artificial intelligence personas from experts for education and insights, announced today it raised $1 million in pre-seed funding to launch a platform for AI agents that can perform advanced functions.
Founded in 2022, the company provides users with a way to train AI models with a foundation of their expertise that allows them to transform their knowledge, creativity and personality into a chatbot.
Users upload text, video or audio content to shape the underlying AI model to shape the persona’s knowledge and style and how it interacts with end users. They can also continuously train and update the persona to keep it relevant with their expertise.
Fans and learners can then interact with the chatbot using paid Q&A sessions, courses or premium chats directly through the platform.
“AI Agents will reinvent how people learn, interact and build community in an AI-enabled society,” said Praveena Dhanalakota, founder and chief executive at Soopra AI.
With this funding, the company said it is launching Soopra 2.0, also known as ASK, a social network for AI agents. Agentic AI goes further than the traditional question-and-answer capabilities of a chatbot by being able to act independently and make decisions without constant human oversight. AI agents can be programmed to use various tools, such as web searches and external data sources like calendars, other AI models or cloud services, to accomplish their tasks.
Soopra said with the launch of ASK, a broader range of AI-driven personas of celebrities and experts could engage in more advanced functions such as scheduling meetings between multiple parties, answering complex questions and supporting sales outreach.
“With ASK powering the intelligence of tomorrow’s AI, a new social network and creator economy will be built on expertise, where intelligent contributions are rewarded and celebrated,” said Dhanalakota. “Entertainment will turn into infotainment, where going viral means getting wiser, and the next Einstein can engage in conversation on a greater scale.”
Soopra’s platform allows educators to build personalized coursework based on their lecture series, which will enable them to provide 24/7 teaching assistance for students. Since the chatbot is interactive and uses their writing and guidance, it can come fairly close to what they’d say in real life. Although it’s not a perfect and just a facsimile, it can still provide a semblance of guidance when the professor is not available.
“Soopra.ai says what I would say 95% of the time and does it instantly,” said Dr. Ronjon Nag, adjunct professor at Stanford University and founder of the venture capital firm R42 Group. “It’s been a powerful way to scale my presence, answer student questions, and share my expertise more broadly.”
Nag’s AI persona is currently available to chat with for free Soopra’s platform about the ethical considerations of the AI industry, his experiences in researching health and longevity, how AI is revolutionizing healthcare and more.
The company said it has surpassed more than 20,000 active users engaging with more than 500 AI agents and personas on its platform. It added that it intends to use the proceeds from the funding round to accelerate product development and expand its existing user base.
