CONFUSED Spotify users have noticed ads appearing on their accounts even though they pay for premium.
Paid subscribers usually get access to the platform without hearing ads as one of the main perks.

But ad breaks have randomly started going out before and after podcasts, according to some listeners writing on Spotify’s forum.
Fortunately it doesn’t appear to be happening widely and is more likely to be a bug.
“Hearing adds on all podcasts for few days with premium duo,” one person wrote.
“Also having the same issue today, have combed through all settings and logged in/out multiple times,” another raged.
“Driving me absolutely mad. They better fix this soon.”
A rep for Spotify told customers that they are investigating the issue.
“Our tech teams are still investigating these reports.
“However, we’ll need to request some further clarification to continue with the investigation.”
Another rep has since responded suggesting there may be some confusion about ads embedded in podcasts themselves.
While Spotify doesn’t place ads on paid subscription accounts, creators of podcasts do sometimes put them within their episode audio, as well as using host-read endorsements and sponsorship messages.
“Where there may be confusion is when listening to a playlist like Daily Drive, as that can contain both Music and Podcasts,” the Spotify staffer said.
“Therefore you may hear an ad during the playback of that playlist during a podcast.”
