Starling Group’s SaaS business Engine by Starling has opened its new London headquarters, which will be home to more than 300 engineering, delivery and client services experts following its latest hiring spree.
Engine previously shared the Starling Group’s HQ at the Fruit and Wool Exchange in Spitalfields, where the company acquired more space in November as it continues to grow.
From its new headquarters at 199 Bishopsgate in London, Engine looks to hire over 150 new colleagues.
The move follows Engine’s signing of its biggest deal to date; a ten year agreement to help Tangerine Bank in Canada upgrade its core banking infrastructure. Engine also powers AMP Bank GO in Australia and Salt Bank in Romania, and has opened international offices in Sydney, Dubai, Toronto and New York.
“Engine is well on track to scale into a business generating £100m of annual recurring revenue,” says Sam Everington, CEO of Engine by Starling. “London sits at the heart of our operations and is where our proprietary tech stack was built. It therefore makes perfect sense to expand our headcount and launch our new HQ in the City.
“While we now live in separate offices, Starling Bank remains a critical case study for what Engine’s technology platform can do.”
In October, Starling Bank implemented a new AI tool for its personal, joint and business account customers to help spot the warning signs of purchase scams. Customers can upload images to Scam Intelligence and get advice on whether it could be a scam.
The tool can also analyse screenshots of texts and messages from potential scammers that are asking Starling customers to transfer money.
