Christakis is a Greek-American reporter, and her fame has spread overseas.
Greek TV stations have come up with a new nickname for her on their broadcasts.
“So apparently TV stations in Greece are calling me Greek freak 2.0 might be the funniest thing to come out of this,” she posted.
The nickname is a play off of Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo’s nickname.
He is affectionately referred to as the Greek Freak.
“Just to clarify… this was 100% a nod to Giannis Antetokounmpo that’s it lol,” Christakis posted.
Christakis is 31 years old and covers a variety of sports in Florida.
She works with the Miami Dolphins, Florida Panthers, Inter Miami, and the Miami Marlins.
According to her LinkedIn, she graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2015.
She has a degree in broadcast journalism.
Christakis also played soccer in her past, and shared that covering Lionel Messi in Miami was a full-circle moment for her.
“Playing football my whole life and becoming a professional has always been my biggest dream,” she wrote on Instagram.
“But getting paid to cover the GOAT’s career is more than I could have imagined.”
