SUSE is launching. The European open source leader today presents SUSE Edge 3.1 and Adaptive Telco Infrastructure Platform (ATIP) 3.1, two solutions aimed at optimizing edge computing operations and modernizing telecommunications infrastructure. Two releases in one, united by the update version number, but also by the purpose of integration.
In both cases, the most notable novelty is the long-term support that these solutions receive, with up to 24 months of guaranteed maintenance.
SUSE Edge 3.1: Greater flexibility and efficiency at the edge
The main features of SUSE Edge 3.1 include its ability to automatically manage thousands of devices in highly distributed environments, in addition to offering validated designs for x86-64 and ARM64 systems. With long-term support, it offers a secure and adaptable solution that allows companies to capitalize on data and operations at the edge. These capabilities are designed to provide improved availability and greater reliability in critical operations.
More new features in this version include:
- Validated and personalized designs: The SUSE Edge 3.1 solution provides an edge-optimized platform with validated designs customized for industrial use cases. SUSE Edge supports x86-64 and ARM64 systems. Validated designs significantly improve customer deployment time and ensure consistent performance of edge deployments.
- Scalable and easy to deploy: SUSE Edge 3.1 delivers a management solution that scales to cover the entire edge stack, from operating system to applications, and to handle operations in a fully automated manner. Edge 3.1 offers 24 months of long-term support.
- Top-notch security and compliance: SUSE Edge is based on the accelerated and integrated risk management capabilities and certifications of the underlying SUSE platforms. Compliance and security features within SUSE Edge extend value, applying best practices in configuration, delivery, and governance using these capabilities.
- Designed for the edge: More than a decade working as a Tier 1 network equipment provider has resulted in a high-performance execution environment at the edge, with a lightweight stack and components built specifically for edge computing.
- Better protection of customer investment: Using industry-standard, vendor-neutral APIs for GitOps-based infrastructure and configuration management provides a higher return on investment.

ATIP 3.1: Innovation and efficiency for telecommunications
On the other hand, SUSE also presents the Adaptive Telco Infrastructure Platform 3.1, designed to help communications service providers (CSP) migrate their operations to the cloud efficiently. This release is notable for its alignment with the recommendations of Project Sylva, an initiative that seeks to foster interoperability at the edge with a container-as-a-service (CaaS) layer. Additionally, ATIP 3.1 offers significant improvements in scalability, security, and regulatory compliance with long-term support.
- Validated and personalized designs: SUSE’s ATIP solution offers a telecom-optimized platform with validated designs for communication service providers (CSPs) and their supplier ecosystem. ATIP supports ARM and Intel platforms. Validated designs significantly improve customer implementation time and ensure the performance of telecommunications networks.
- Scalable and easy to deploy: ATIP offers a management solution designed to easily deploy the entire telecom cloud stack, from operating system to network functions, and to handle operations in a fully automated manner. ATIP 3.1 offers 24 months of long-term support.
- Top-notch security and compliance: ATIP is based on the accelerated and integrated risk management capabilities and certifications of the underlying SUSE platforms. The compliance and security functions within ATIP extend value, applying best practices in configuration, delivery and governance using these capabilities.
