Switch 2 Joy-Con might have a neat, unannounced customisation feature

The Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con improvements might go beyond magnets and mouse functionality, according to a newly-spotted product listing online.

The Switch 2 controllers might offer customisable side panels that would enable users to switch up the look of the accessory.

A retailer called Ali-Express (via ScreenRant) is offering what it calls ‘decorative strips’ for the Switch 2 Joy Cons, in blue and red. They’re only about £3 so they are, as you’d expect, cheap bits of flexible plastic.

Nintendo hasn’t said anything about design customisation of the new controllers, so this mightn’t ever be something Nintendo ever endorses. If it does, you can be sure Nintendo will sell their own clip-on panels. If it doesn’t, it might not be advisable to mess with them.

It appears, from the images Nintendo has published that the side panels can be prised off without screw drivers, so it shouldn’t be something where too much damage is likely, but Nintendo might have something to say about the warranty.

Opinion

It did occur to me that the Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con controllers looked a bit drab compared to their predecessors. Could this be a way to spruce them up a little bit?

Of course none of this really matters. It’s all about those Switch 2 games, but this is interesting nonetheless.
