Synology has updated ActiveProtect Manager to version 1.1with new features focused on reinforcing security and expanding its regulatory compliance capabilities. Additionally, it facilitates mass deployment and expands remote storage options to make it easier for companies to improve cyber resilience.

ActiveProtect offers seamlessly integrated hardware and software, resulting in lower total cost of ownership. Additionally, it centralizes protection for up to 150,000 workloads across 2,500 sites, spanning virtual machines, servers, databases, endpoints, and SaaS services. With advanced features like WORM, air-gapped backups, and self-healing integrity checks, ActiveProtect provides comprehensive threat security.

The latest version of APM introduces significant improvements to help organizations strengthen their data protection strategy. Like the enhanced cyber resilience. APM 1.1 strengthens data security with a new Allow Access Mode, which offers granular network control, and enables incoming traffic only from whitelisted IP addresses during backup operations. Upon completion, or if backups finish early, the system automatically reverts to full isolation mode.

Its optimized compliance support allows organizations to perform multi-site and multi-geo backups to maintain data in designated geographic locations, thereby meeting local data residency requirements. IT can, with this new release, deploy agents in batches to support Proxmox environments with ease.

Finally, its new data tiering support and remote storage options allow data to be moved seamlessly to the chosen remote storage destination, meeting your long-term retention needs.

Additionally, while initial remote storage support includes on-premises solutions (Synology SA and HD Series) and cloud platforms (C2 Object Storage and Amazon S3), the update APM 1.1 expands support to include Wasabi cloud storage and select devices from the XS/XS+ models. ActiveProtect devices are available globally through Synology’s network of resellers and partners.
