Tech consultancy group Plexal has been appointed by Transport for London (TfL) to support the integration of new technologies.
Plexal will lead a consortium of tech groups to assess which technologies can be effectively implemented to improve the efficiency of the UK capital’s transport network.
The group will scout for innovative solutions to TfL’s operational concerns, run trials with startups to see how their products would work within the TfL environment and support product commercialisation to drive revenue as well as efficiency.
“Given the evolution of technology in the transport sector, it’s incredibly exciting to work with the organisation again as its innovation operation supplier,” said Plexal chief executive Andrew Roughan.
Plexal previously worked with TfL on London RoadLab, a mobility innovation accelerator providing support to cohorts of startups in the sector.
Roughan continued: “The startup ecosystem has changed dramatically since our first collaboration with TfL and there is a wealth of new solutions being developed in line with advancing technologies.
“Having supported the growth of more than 1,200 businesses across public and private sector programmes, we know there is an incredible amount of rich talent just waiting to be unearthed.
“We look forward to helping TfL access new innovations and overcome challenges, creating an even better experience for its customers and staff.”
