Temu signs a very controversial partnership with La Poste

After the controversial arrival of Shein at BHV, it is Temu’s turn to provoke discontent among traders. The Chinese platform announced on October 16, 2025, the extension of its partnership with La Poste to accelerate the delivery of its packages. Initially limited to a few hundred post offices, the new Chinese giant will now be able to count on more than 7,000 Colissimo counters spread across the entire French territory. Added to this are nearly 4,000 PickUp points, for a total network of more than 11,000 locations dedicated stores, where consumers can collect their online purchases.

This increase in power responds to two major challenges for Temu, by targeting both delivery times, but also the ease of delivery and collection for consumers, who will be able to collect their orders outside of traditional hours.

Delivery in 48 hours

Thanks to this logistics architecture, Temu aims to go from an average time of 72 hours to 48 hours for its standard deliveries in France. Also note that shipping costs remain free from a certain purchase amount. Faced with well-established competitors like Amazon, Cdiscount or AliExpress, the platform must guarantee an increasingly rapid customer experience, while continuing to capitalize on its low prices.

If the Commerce Alliance and the Procos federation expressed their β€œdeep incomprehension and concern” on Thursday, while calling on the government to take strong measures, this partnership between Temu and La Poste could prove beneficial for the company. If the Chinese platform is regularly singled out for its aggressive commercial practices, its dark patterns and its management of personal data, a merger with the historic postal delivery service should improve Temu’s image among consumers.

A tax on Chinese parcels to be expected

Especially since this strengthening of partnership is only a first step. Temu could soon exploit other La Poste services, by focusing on automatic lockers or delivery to connected mailboxes. A strategic alliance, which could however come up against French legislation: in its 2026 budget, the State plans a tax on small parcels delivered by companies outside the European Union. Shein and AliExpress are obviously in the sights, but Temu would not escape the system. The platform will therefore have to gain the trust of customers before (perhaps) having to undergo a Price increase in France.
