The so -called self -driving software from Tesla does not stop for a school bus or a child who walks back, the bus, but despite that the automaker is moving forward with plans to introduce robotaxis in Austin, Texas, and says it is completely safe. One family in Pennsylvania, however, cannot agree after their Tesla had been on a few railway tracks before they were finally hit by a train, WFMZ reports. Fortunately everyone was able to get out of the car and go to safety before the train hit his car, and no injuries were reported by the incident.

According to the local fire commissioner, the car was “in self-drive mode when it happened”, which seems to suggest that the driver autopilot or Tesla’s used so-called “full self-driving” software, which, despite the names of both software that otherwise implies, they are different, they are only a level 2-assistant software because you never know that is constant supervision. Driving on train tracks is a pretty bad mistake, but at least everyone survived. This is not always the case when the Tesla’s Driver Assistants Software software is messing up.

The Tesla reportedly turned left to the railway tracks at around 5:30 am on Saturday morning, and according to Western Berks Fire Commissioner Jared Renshaw, the “(W) enthusiastic about the tracks about 40-50 feet. They all left the vehicle, pulled out their possessions.”

Affected by a train … technical

Usually, when you hear that a car gets stuck on the track and is hit by a train, you expect the train to cause serious damage. In this case, however, it seems that the Tesla could drive past the tracks for a while before he got stuck. A few minutes later there was a train that drove on an adjacent series of traces, the mirror and caused little other damage. Nevertheless, the authorities were reportedly afraid that loading the car on a flatbed would damage the battery, making it possible to start a battery fire that would be difficult to turn off, so they chose to get a tap to lift the Tesla off the tracks.

“We had accidents with Tesla’s (sic) who have been in vehicle accidents, but no one has declared us that the vehicle was in self -drive when it happened,” said commissioner Renshaw in a statement.

For the time being we only have the word of the driver that they used the vehicle ‘in self -drive’, so it is quite possible that they were driving on the tracks themselves and simply blame the software. Even assume that the steering machine or completely self -driving was active, that they were still not of responsibility for the crash, because they are those who had a operating software for level 2 made so big mistake. After all, Teslas still has control wheels, and the car that tries to change a series of train tracks is definitely a situation in which they have to intervene.

Teslas and train tracks

This is certainly not the first time that a Tesla has driven on train tracks. In fact, it happened several times before, and as you can see at this last incident, nobody did anything at Tesla to prevent that happening since the first time it happened. They know that it is something that the so -called “full self -driving” software sometimes does that, but for whatever reason, they still have not solved it. It is also not exactly years ago since the last incident.

Last year a driver in Woodland, California, had their Tesla run on a few train tracks. Fortunately no one was injured, but the incident led the local police to give a warning on Facebook and to tell drivers: “Autopilot is an auxiliary function, no replacement for attentive driving,” and “always keep in the hands of the steering wheel and be prepared to take control.”

Earlier this year, something similar happened when another driver left their Tesla left to a few train tracks in Santa Monica, which forced the driver to keep driving through the tracks until they found an exit. He was able to escape without being hit, but he was reportedly had to run a red light to get off the tracks to escape from an oncoming train before that happened.

But don’t worry. The Tesla robotaxis in Austin will be completely complete, 100% safe. No doubt about that.
