(Reuters) -Tesla (TSLA) said on Friday it is recalling 694,304 vehicles in the United States due to a problem with its tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
The TPMS warning light may not stay on between driving cycles, failing to warn the driver of low tire pressure, according to a recall notice.
The problem could lead to drivers using the vehicle with under-inflated tires, increasing the risk of a crash, the report said.
The issue, which affects some Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck vehicles, will be resolved with an over-the-air software update, Tesla said.
According to recall management company BizzyCar, vehicles accounted for 21% of all recalls in the U.S. in the first three quarters of the year. However, most of the problems with the brand’s cars were usually resolved with over-the-air software updates.
Tesla recalled 1,858,774 vehicles in the September quarter, the most in the US, but problems in all of these vehicles were fixed through software updates.
The company recalled 2,400 Cybertruck units in the US in November because a defective part could lead to power loss and increase the risk of a crash.
