HOUSTON Texans coach DeMeco Ryans took a shot at ESPN star Rex Ryan for his comments this week.
Ryans was fired up in the locker room after his team defeated the Los Angeles Chargers in the playoffs Saturday.
Houston ran out dominant 32-12 winners against Los Angeles to advance to the division round.
The Chargers won one more game than the Texans in the regular-season and were favorites to win.
But Ryans was delighted by the manner of Houston’s victory.
He greeted his victorious team in the locker room at NRG Stadium on Saturday.
And he declared, “Outstanding job by everybody. That was their bye week?
“We talk about complete team football all year, great job.”
The “bye week” remark was in reference to a comment from ESPN analyst Ryan.
“Chargers, basically, I never realized, they get a bye,” Ryan said on Get Up! last week.
“Oh, wait, they gotta play the Texans. What’s the difference?”
Ryan appeared on ESPN Sunday NFL Countdown the day after Houston’s win.
And he apologized for his remark, but also made an unfavorable prediction for their game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
“Who had a worse day, me or Justin Herbert?” Ryan said Sunday.
“You’ve got to tip your hat to them because that team played their absolute a** off.
“If you guys were gonna play like that, I would’ve taken you to win the Super Bowl.
“I’m seeing going into it, 1-5 against playoff teams, I’m seeing all that.”
NFL division round schedule

And he concluded, “Sorry, Houston. But I’m not picking you next week either.
“Or maybe I will.”
The Chargers finished the regular-season with a 12-5 record.
That was two better than the Texans managed as they won the AFC South at 10-7.
But Houston made full use of home advantage in a comfortable win to advance to play the Chiefs next.
