The 19 TV channels disappearing from Sky and Virgin Media this October

SKY and Virgin Media is undergoing a fresh overhaul this month with popular channels disappearing.

Sky viewers will see certain channels renamed while others will completely vanish.

Sky channels have undergone some changes this month

Changes will be made to the Sky TV Guide on Sky+, Sky Q and Sky Glass/Stream.

From the morning of Thursday 16 October, Sky’s satellite service will automatically apply a switch-around that sees children’s channels nudged up a notch on the dial.

Another major shake-up will be affecting a popular channel that will get scrapped at the end of the month after over two decades.

October 1

Sky Feel Good (Satellite 304 – Glass/Stream 304) is reverting back top its original name Sky Greats/ Sky Greats HD.

Movies 24 and Movies 24+ will be renamed to Christmas 24 and Christmas 24+ respectively, but only for the holiday season.

Sky 20s (Satellite 302 – Glass/Stream 302) is also undergoing a change and will temporarily be called Halloween HD.

On a similar note, Sky Sci-Fi & Horror (Satellite 311 – Glass/Stream 311) is temporarily changing to Sky Sci-Fi HD.

October 6

Nick Jr Peppa (Satellite 613 – Glass/Stream 207 Glass) made a permanent name change to  to Nick Jr. Too.

October 16

The now renamed Nick Jr. Too has undergone another change, moving from 613 to 612 on satellite only.

Here’s the complete list of channels that changed their EPG on satellite only:

  • POP  moves from 614 to 613 on satellite only
  • Tiny Pop  moves from 615 to 614 on satellite only
  • Nickelodeon+1  moves from 616 to 615 on satellite only
  • RTE Jr  (ROI) moves from 617 to 616 on satellite only
  • POP+1  moves from 618 to 617 on satellite only
  • Tiny Pop+1  moves from 619 to 618 on satellite only
  • Nick Jr+1  moves from 622 to 619 on satellite only
  • Nickelodeon HD (ROI)  moves from 623 to 620 on satellite only
  • RTÉjr (NI) / Cúla4 HD (ROI)  moves from 624 to 621 on satellite only
  • Nick Jr HD (ROI)  moves from 625 to 622 on satellite only
  • BabyTV moves from 626 to 623 on satellite only
  • Cúla4 HD (NI) moves from 627 to 624 on satellite only
  • Nick Jr. HD moves from 645 to 643 on satellite only

October 23

Sky Family (Satellite 306 – Sky Glass/Stream 306) has temporarily swapped with Sky Halloween (Satellite 302 – Sky Glass/Stream 302).

October 24

Sky Family will undergo another temporary change as it’s being renamed to HarryPotterHD.

Meanwhile,Sky Animation (Satellite 305 – Sky Glass/Stream 305) will be temporarily renamed after another kids’ favourite kungfupandaHD.

Sky Cinema Hits (Satellite 303 – Sky Glass/Stream 303) will be named Sky Spooky HD for a short time this October.

October 27

Sky KungFuPandaHD (Satellite 305 – Glass/Stream 305) will revert from its temporary change back to SkyAnimationHD.A

October 30

By the end of this month, Sky Sci-Fi (139 / 140 in Scotland) will move to 152 on satellite only.

Meanwhile, in Scotland, Crime+Investigation (156) will move to 139 / 140on satellite.

And BLAZE (164) will be switched to 156 on satellite only.

Sky Arts ROI (124/822) will be closed permanently on satellite and replaced with the Sky Arts UK service.

Sky will also be shutting down Sky Replay Sky Replay ROI and Sky Replay HD (Satellite 152 – Sky Glass/Stream 160 (156 in ROI)) after 22 years on-air.

The channel has been a favourite for catching up on shows like A League Of Their Own, Four Weddings and SEAL Team.

However, customers have been assured they will still be able to access all the shows they’re used to seeing on Sky Replay via other means.

October 31

WION HD (Satellite 519) will close for good at the end of October and will vanish from the EPG the following Monday.
