It’s release time for the Nintendo Switch 2. The console will mark a turning point in Nintendo’s history by taking the plunge into the new generation. If this is your very first Switch, it’s easy to get confused about game purchasing priorities. Even if you are a regular, you are probably wondering which games you absolutely need from the launch of the console, in order to have enough quality content to wait for the release of the behemoths which arrive in 2026. Here are the 5 that we strongly advise you to acquire.

1. Mario Kart World

If you haven’t already done so, we strongly advise you to Buy the Nintendo Switch 2 in a bundle with Mario Kart World. In fact, it is the most economical offer you will find on the market, since the game sold alone is priced at €90, while it costs you €40 as a set with the machine. Mario Kart World is obviously a must-have, because it is the first new game in the license to which we have been entitled since 2014 (Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch was a re-release of the Wii U game).

It brings a lot of changes, starting with an open world. No more menu where you just have to choose between the different cups, here you can wander around the game circuits and start games from this interactive hub. The title also brings races to 24 participants, a ton of new characters, and even a customization system with unlockable skins.

2. Hyrule Warriors: The Seal Chronicles

What better time to get started Zelda than with the Nintendo Switch 2? The games Breath of the Wild et Tears of the Kingdomalready acclaimed by critics and players on the first Switch console, have offered themselves upgrades to fully exploit the performance of the Switch 2. But there is a new title which was released directly on the console a few weeks ago.

It is aboutHyrule Warriors: The Chronicles of the Sealan episode thought of as a narrative bridge between the two major opuses of the saga. The game uses the well-known formula of the license Hyrule Warriorswith clashes against hundreds of simultaneous enemies, while putting more emphasis on storytelling. We discover events previously only mentioned, centered on the origins of the Seal and the key characters of this pivotal period of Hyrule.

3. Metroid Prime 4

Announced for many years and become a true symbol of the wait around the Nintendo Switch 2, Metroid Prime 4 is finally part of the games available on the console. The return of Samus Aran takes place in a completely redesigned episode, which retains the DNA of the series while profoundly modernizing its approach.

The exploration is freer, the environments are interconnected and the staging gains in intensity thanks to rather careful artistic and sound direction. The game takes full advantage of the new technical capabilities of the console, with enhanced immersion in first-person view and more nervous combat. Metroid Prime 4 is aimed at both long-time fans and new players, and stands out as one of the single-player pillars of the Switch 2 launch.

4. Kirby Air Riders

If you’re tired of Mario Kart and its familiar formula, why not focus on something new and fresh with Kirby Air Riders ? In this colorful car racing game, you play as cute and fearsome characters from the universe Kirby. The game system is completely different from that of Mario Kart World since it relies very essentially on the mastery and skills of the player.

The action takes place very quickly, and it is through anticipation, reaction and speed management that you manage to gain the advantage over your opponents. Kirby Air Riders focuses more on the feeling of sliding and reading the terrain than on random objects, which makes it a more technical game than it seems. Accessible on the surface, but surprisingly demanding once you have the controller in hand, it is an excellent alternative for those looking for a more nervous and different racing game on Switch 2.

5. Hogwarts Legacy

Already released on the previous generation, Hogwarts Legacy finds a second lease of life on Nintendo Switch 2 thanks to a significantly improved version. The technical compromises of the first Switch are largely erased here, with reduced or non-existent loading times most of the time, better stability and graphics much closer to the home console versions.

The game remains a safe bet for RPG enthusiasts and fans of the universe Harry Potter. The exploration of Hogwarts and its surroundings is more fluid, the fights are more readable and the whole benefits from much greater gaming comfort. For those who have not yet taken the plunge, or who wish to rediscover the title in better conditions, Hogwarts Legacy stands out as an excellent choice for the Nintendo Switch 2.
