The data platform market is undergoing a transformation, driven by the rapid growth of artificial intelligence. The explosion of AI is fueling a rise in unstructured and multimodal data, creating demand for retrieval-ready design and governance at scale.

In partnership with Nvidia Corp., Dell Technologies Inc. is rethinking the foundations of data platforms to handle today’s AI workloads while preparing for tomorrow’s unique challenges.

“Many customers, especially in regulated industries, still need to keep their sensitive data on their own environment, but they want to use that because it’s such high value in their AI application,” said Vrashank Jain (pictured, right), director of product management at Dell Technologies Inc. “That makes secure high-performance on-prem platforms just as important as cloud-native ones. Because of those trends, I would say our vision is to unify the structured and unstructured data, make it AI-ready by default and secure it efficiently within the customer’s enclaves at high performance.”

Jain and Geeta Vaghela (left), strategy and planning for AI and technical computing at Dell, spoke with theCUBE’s Rob Strechay at the Future of Data Platforms Summit, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, News Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed Dell and Nvidia co-engineering a secure, flexible and open data platform designed to evolve alongside AI. (* Disclosure below.)

Inside Dell’s AI Data Platform

Developed in close collaboration with Nvidia, Dell’s AI Data Platform is built as a composable, modular ecosystem that integrates “data engines” and “storage engines.” PowerScale and ObjectScale form the secure, resilient storage backbone, validated for AI workloads, according to Vaghela. These are combined with best-in-breed data engines to create a complete pipeline from ingestion to analytics to AI deployment.

“When we think of our customers using this, whether it be the enterprise or the neo clouds or anyone in between, and whether it’s dev test or going all the way into production, the intention of our AI DP is to be composable enough and an open ecosystem so that they can combine best-in-breed technologies for various different outcomes,” Vaghela said.

A crucial component in the partnership is best-in-breed composability. Rather than locking customers into rigid stacks, Dell’s approach lets organizations assemble only what they need while ensuring each component meets enterprise-grade performance, Vaghela added.
