Google has confirmed that Start rolling out AI Mode in Google Search today in 36 new languages and around 50 countries and territories, among which is Spain. When the rollout is complete, Google AI Mode will already be present in more than 200 countries.
This new search modality, assisted by Artificial Intelligence, has reasoning and multimodality capabilities, and the possibility of delving into any question through additional questions and useful links to the web, with the aim that the system understands what the user is looking for, regardless of its level of complexity, and can provide an agile and detailed response.
Search AI mode will be accessible through a new button on the search results page, as well as in the Google Search app for Android and iOS. It supports different types of questions, some with several sections and others with follow-up questions, thanks to Gemini’s advanced modes. Its capabilities make it especially useful for asking exploratory questions, without a single, direct answer. Also for more complicated tasks, related to searching for information or planning trips or events.
This mode uses Google’s query decomposition technique, which breaks the user’s question into different subtopics, then performs a burst of queries at the same time. Thus, the Google search can go deeper and access content that is more relevant to the question.
AI Mode is designed to be truly multimodal. Therefore, it supports questions in text mode, by voice on smartphones and tablets, and even images taken with the camera. To do this, simply touch the microphone icon of the mobile device being used and make a query. You can also upload or take a photo to the Google app and ask the question.
AI Mode also uses Google’s basic quality and ranking systems, which aims to display an AI-based response whenever possible. However, in cases where there is not much confidence in achieving these results, a set of web search results will appear instead.
