I love a bargain, and there’s no bigger sleep bargain in this year’s Presidents’ Day sales than the DreamCloud Classic, down to $399 (worth $1,346) at DreamCloud. I’ve slept on every version of this hotel-style bed-in-a-box since I first started testing mattresses in 2018, and it’s still the one I recommend to people looking for a great mattress for less.

When I reinvented our mattress testing last autumn, The DreamCloud was my guinea pig. I’ve tested every inch of this mid-range hybrid and rate it so much I hung on to it afterwards. (It now lives in my guest room, and I love having a cheeky nap on it.)

It’s also the second highest-rated option in our best mattress guide, earning a 4 out of 5 star review following rigorous lab tests and real-life testing at home, and even outperforming some premium mattresses.

Here’s why I recommend the 12 Inch DreamCloud Classic Hybrid in this year’s Presidents’ Day mattress deals and sales…

It eases pressure points to help you sleep through the night

Hip and lower back pain put my sleep through the ringer about 18 months ago. For several months I couldn’t sleep comfortably on my side (my dominant position) and was waking up every hour or so.

The DreamCloud Classic didn’t save me back then – that honor goes to the Saatva Classic, my favorite mattress (from $999 at Saatva) – but when it comes to relieving pressure points, the DreamCloud is one of the best hybrid mattresses we’ve tested.

The DreamCloud Hybrid uses a combo of innerspring coils and dense memory foam to distribute your body weight evenly. That reduces pressure points.

It scored an excellent 4 out of 5 in our lab-based pressure relief tests, beating the Nectar Premier, our top-rated memory foam mattress, for sheer pain relieving comfort.

I didn’t expect that, as all-foam mattresses usually perform better in these tests.

Very occasionally I feel slight pressure in my hips when lying on the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid, but it’s sporadic. My colleague Lauren, who wrote our DreamCloud Classic Hybrid mattress review – slept like a baby on it every night.

The Saatva is our top ranking mattress for pressure relief, earning a 5 out of 5 score in our Saatva Classic mattress review. However the DreamCloud’s performance here is impressive considering it costs $699 for a queen versus $1,739 for a queen Saatva.

Hotel feel for a bargain price

You know that sense of relief you feel when you walk into your hotel room, lie down on the mattress, and your body is met with instant comfort? Like you can finally relax because you know you’re going to sleep well that night? Well, that’s what you’ll get when lying on the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid.

The best hotel mattresses normally cost upwards of $1,500 for a queen, and they’re worth every cent because they’re stacked with natural and organic materials, plus seemingly endless comfort layers to make you feel like you’re floating on a cloud.

The DreamCloud has a very similar feel, and all for $399 for a twin. It’s also 12 inches tall, so it looks like many of the deep and plush mattresses you’ll come across in popular hotels like The Westin and The Ritz-Carlton.

I do have one niggle with it though: the CloudQuilt cover is hard to dress. My old bed protectors never sat right on it (the surface of the DreamCloud has deep quilted divots), so I had to switch to protectors with elasticated bands that anchor at each corner.

Why The DreamCloud is a Presidents’ Day bargain

As I said earlier, the current price I’m seeing on the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid is pretty much the same price I see every month.

Even so, $699 for a queen size mattress of this caliber, and one that earned the second highest set of scores when we recently retested our Top 5 mattresses, is beyond excellent.

Here’s how it scored in each major area of our mattress testing:

  • Pressure relief – 4 out of 5
  • Edge support – 4 out of 5
  • Motion isolation – 3.5 out of 5
  • Temperature regulation – 4 out of 5
  • Value for money – 5 out of 5

I’ve tested a lot of mattresses for my job, so trust me when I say that you would pay much more for this type of mattress in store, especially one that comes with a year’s sleep trial, a forever mattress warranty, and free shipping.

(The DreamCloud arrives in a box and needs to inflate for 48-72 hours before you sleep on it).

The quality of the fiberglass-free materials are good for the price too, including toxin-free CertiPUR-US foam.

Yes there are better mattresses for very specific sleep needs (see below), but The DreamCloud is a great all-rounder that delivers a comfy night’s sleep for a smaller price.

Alternatives worth considering

The DreamCloud is THE bargain of Presidents’ Day 2026, but it won’t suit everyone.

The feel is softer than advertised (I’d rate it as a 6 out of 10 on the mattress firmness scale), so I wouldn’t recommend it to stomach and back sleepers who weigh 250lbs+. I think your hips might dip too much to keep your spine in healthy alignment.

I’ve definitely felt some heat pool in The DreamCloud Classic Hybrid too, but again I’m in the minority – it scored well in our temperature regulation lab tests, and the rest of our testers said it stayed felt finewhen they slept on it.

But with those points in mind, here are my top two alternatives to consider…
